چکیده

The rapid emergence of GPS enabled devices, sensors, and mobile equipment in commercial as well as government organizations has led to considerable research in location-based access control schemes. This paper introduces the concept of timeand location-based access control, and shows how role-based access control (RBAC) model can be extended to incorporate these parameters for granting access. Location based access policies enhance the security of an application by restricting access to an object only from specified locations. On the other hand, temporal constraints limit access to a specific time interval. This paper presents an understandable user interface for a spatio-temporal RBAC (STRBAC) system we are developing. It shows both the complexity of the decisions that must be made, and the relative understandability of the system for users and for administrators who must configure the system. It is critical not only to be able to express and enforce desired policies, but also to determine what the current policies are. This interface provides an accessible mechanism for this form of access control. keywords: Location-aware Computing, Time-dependent Access, Security Policies, RBAC, Access Control Model.

An Administrative Model for Spatio-Temporal Role Based Access Control

In the present computing environment, access control decisions are often based on contextual information like the location of users and objects as well as the time of making an access request. Several variants of Role based Access Control (RBAC) have recently been proposed that support spatio-temporal policy specifications. However, unlike the administrative models available for RBAC, there is ...

Using Spatio-Temporal Role Based Access Control for Physical Access Control Specification: Towards Effective Cyber-Physical Systems

Spatio-Temporal Role-based access control (STRBAC) has been acknowledged as an effective mechanism for specifying access control policies for cyber systems. However, it is not yet clear how a STRBAC model can be used for specifying access control policies for physical systems. In this paper, we propose a Spatio-Temporal Role Based Access Control (STRBAC) system for modeling the physical access ...

Requirements and Challenges of Location-Based Access Control in Healthcare Emergency Response

Recent advances in positioning and tracking technologies have led to the emergence of novel location-based applications that allow participants to access information relevant to their spatio-temporal context. Traditional access control models, such as role-based access control (RBAC), are not sufficient to address the new challenges introduced by these location-based applications. Several recen...
